Tiger Woods will play in the US Open this June 14-17 for the first time since 2015, having filed his entry yesterday for the 118th edition at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York.

Woods, who won the US Open in 2000, 2002 and 2008 and was runner-up twice, has not played in the championship since the 2015 event at Chambers Bay in Washington when he missed the cut. This is the last year of his 10-year exemption as 2008 champion.

The 14-time Major winner has competed in 19 US Opens including twice at Shinnecock Hills. He played there as an amateur in 1995 but had to withdraw in the second round due to injury, and tied for 17th in 2004.

Woods is in the midst of a much-publicised comeback to competitive golf and has played six events so far this year with two top-five finishes.
