Tiger Woods will not return to action in the near future after recently undergoing back surgery again. The procedure, a microdiscectomy to remove a pressurized disc fragment that caused a pinched nerve, was his fifth back surgery since March 2014.
“I look forward to begin training and am focused on getting back out on TOUR,” Woods said a statement released by his TGR Foundation.
The statement noted that the 15-time Major winner will miss next week’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines and The Genesis Invitational on February 18-21, a tournament which he hosts at Riviera Country Club.
Following his fourth back surgery, a spinal fusion in early 2017, Woods returned to action the following year and won the season-ending Tour Championship. He won The Masters and Zozo Championship in 2019 to tie Sam Snead’s record of 82 PGA Tour victories.
