Ting and Superal rule at Glenmarie

Malaysia’s Malcolm Ting and Philippines’s Eagle Ace Superal captured the overall boys’ and girls’ titles respectively at the 14th AmBank SportExcel International Junior Golf Championship, which concluded yesterday at Glenmarie Golf & Country Club.

Ting won the Best Player from the Blue Tee (Boys 13-14 and 15-18 age groups) with a score of four-under-par 212 (74-68-70), while Superal emerged as the White Tee (Girls 13-14 and 15-18 age groups) winner with an identical total after rounds of 71, 74 and 67. They each won Tan Sri Azman Hashim challenge trophies, named after the AmBank Group chairman.

Ting also received a one-year full academic golf scholarship from the Hills International College in the Gold Coast, Australia, worth approximately RM100,000 or A$31,000. Three other players, namely Superal, last’s year’s overall white tee winner Mirabel Ting and Poon Jia Hao, were each presented with a one-month scholarship from Hills.

The prizes were presented by AmBank Islamic Berhad CEO Eqhwan Mokhzanee, AmBank Group executive vice president of group corporate communications and marketing Syed Anuar Syed Ali and SportExcel executive director Sivanandan Chinnadurai.

144 players took part in the Category F World Amateur Golf Ranking event, including leading juniors from India, Taiwan, Indonesia, Switzerland, China, Australia, Thailand, USA, Brunei, Philippines, Japan, South Korea and of course Malaysia.
