TPCKL’s West Course named Malaysia’s Best Golf Course at World Golf Awards

TPC Kuala Lumpur’s West Course picked up the Best Golf Course in Malaysia award during the 6th World Golf Awards at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

The Andaman in Langkawi was named as Malaysia’s Best Golf Hotel, while Liberty Golf Services picked up two awards for Best Inbound and Best Outbound Golf Tour Operator in Malaysia.

Bangkok-based golf tour specialist Golfasian won four awards, highlighted by the World’s Best Golf Tour Operator accolade.

Vietnam was unveiled as one of the big winners, collecting trophies for both Asia’s Best Golf Destination and World’s Best Golf Destination. Scotland’s Carnoustie Golf Links – Championship Course was acknowledged with awards for Europe’s Best Golf Course and World’s Best Golf Course.

Singapore’s Sentosa Golf Club took the title of World’s Best Golf Club, while other winners on the night included England’s The Belfry (Europe’s Best Golf Hotel and World’s Best Golf Hotel); Royal Greens Golf & Country Club, Saudi Arabia (World’s Best Golf Clubhouse); and Kalhaar Blues & Greens Golf Club (India’s Best Golf Course).

Scottish legend Colin Montgomerie was named Golf Course Designer of the Year and also received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to golf.

Officially launched in 2014, the World Golf Awards aims to drive standards within the golf tourism industry by acknowledging, celebrating and rewarding excellent courses and golf destinations globally. The winners are selected based on votes by the public and professionals working with the golf industry in more than 100 countries over eight months.
