The PKNS Selangor Masters will celebrate its 12th edition on January 22-25, 2025, with an increased total prize fund of US$200,000 and in a prime spot as the season opener of the Asian Development Tour (ADT).

The storied event will see players from the ADT, which is the developmental circuit of the Asian Tour, pit their skills against Malaysia’s leading golfers from the domestic Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour. The tournament will once again be played at the highly-rated Seri Selangor Golf Club, a players’ favourite for its speedy greens and strategic design.

The PKNS Selangor Masters is promoted by PKNS Golf Management Services, which is a subsidiary of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), who have been the title sponsor since 2022.

“We are proud to announce that the PKNS Selangor Masters will return in January 2025 as the season-opener of the Asian Development Tour and the PGM Tour, offering an increased prize fund of US$200,000,” said Dato’ Setia Haji Haris Bin Kasim, Chairman of the PKNS Selangor Masters Organising Committee.

“Since the inaugural event in 2007, we have seen may exciting finishes that have gone down to the wire. I am sure this year’s tournament at Seri Selangor will have its fair share of fireworks as leading players from across the region square off against the cream of Malaysian golf, on one of the toughest layouts in the country,” he added.

The field of 144 players features the leading 80 available players from the ADT and 40 from the PGM Tour, with the remaining 24 spots allocated for tournament invitations. Fans can expect some great action over the four days of the tournament, as the players from both tours will be keen to get their seasons off to good starts. The Top 10 players on the ADT’s final Order of Merit will earn Asian Tour cards for the following season.

“The PKNS Selangor Masters will allow us to start the season with a bang and is sure to draw an extremely strong field. We thank the Selangor State Government and PKNS for clearing the way to schedule the tournament as our season opener, which is a prime position, ”said Ken Kudo, General Manager of the Asian Development Tour.

The 2025 PKNS Selangor Masters will be the culmination of a busy month for Seri Selangor, before the Chinese New Year holidays and an impending major redesign for the golf course. The Selangor International Junior Golf Championship (SIJGC) will be played there the preceding week, while the inaugural Albatross Cup takes place in early January. The latter is  a matchplay event between two Malaysian teams led by the country’s current and former top players, Gavin Green and Danny Chia, respectively.

For the fourth time running, the winner of the SIJGC will be given an invitational slot in the PKNS Selangor Masters

Defending champion Rahil Gangjee of India

Played in June 2024, the last edition of the PKNS Selangor Masters saw Indian stalwart Rahil Gangjee survive a nervous finish to triumph by one shot over Australian Deyen Lawson. Malaysia’s rising young talent Marcus Lim, making his first start as a professional, did the nation proud by finishing joint third.

The Selangor Masters was first staged in 2007 as a local event before joining the Asian Tour the following year, when Malaysia’s Ben Leong emerged triumphant.  It was played on the Asian Tour until 2014, before returning as an Asian Development Tour event in 2022 when Shahriffuddin Ariffin became the second Malaysian to claim the title.  Seri Selangor has been the venue on each occasion, except in 2011 and 2012 when the tournament was played at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club.
