Vokey Design has introduced a sleek, limited-edition Black Vapor finish for its popular SM10 wedges, giving the PGA Tour’s most-played wedges a premium new look. The latest iteration features a titanium carbide vapor coating applied via PVD treatment for enhanced durability, along with an FPP smudge-resistant coating for a cleaner aesthetic.
Available in all 27 loft, bounce, and grind combinations across right- and left-hand models, the Black Vapor SM10 wedges can be ordered via custom at Vokey.com. A select range of right-handed configurations will also be available in golf shops starting July 24, with a retail price of RM1,100.
The wedges are completed with custom touches including a black-and-silver Golf Pride Z-Grip Cord grip, Dynamic Gold Onyx shaft, and a BV Wings Black Vapor shaft label. “A player has to love their wedge when they look down at it, and finish plays a key role,” said Bob Vokey, the company’s Master Craftsman.
Technologically, the SM10 series continues to offer 27 unique loft, bounce, and grind setups—now including the 58.06K and 60.06K lob wedges, designed to accommodate varying swing types, shot styles, and course conditions. Progressive CG placements optimise distance, trajectory control, and turf interaction, with a lower CG in gap wedges and a raised CG in higher lofts for a more consistent ball flight and solid feel.
Vokey’s Spin Milled TX9 grooves are tailored by loft for maximum spin: narrower and deeper on lower lofts, and wider and shallower on higher ones. Micro-texture between grooves boosts spin on partial shots, while high-frequency heat treatment doubles groove-edge durability.
Golfers can personalise their SM10 wedges through WedgeWorks, with options such as toe engravings, custom paint fills, stamping, and a wide range of shafts and grips. The Vokey Wedge Selector tool on the company’s website helps players find the best setup for their swing and conditions, though a custom fitting is recommended for precision.
