Tiger Woods is inching closer towards a record-equalling 82nd PGA Tour title following a four-under-par 66 in this morning ‘s third round of the Zozo Championship in Japan, giving him a three-stroke lead over local hero Hideki Matsuyama heading into the final round.
Players will not be re-paired for the final round at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, with this afternoon’s tee times running from noon to 2pm local time. Play will continue until darkness with players expected to resume the final round tomorrow (Monday, October 28) at 7:30am. The second round was only played yesterday due to heavy rain on Friday.
Woods has a 100% career record (24 of 24) when he holds a three-shot or more lead through 54 holes. A win here will see him tie Sam Snead’s PGA Tour record of 82 career victories.
2019 FedExCup champion Rory McIlroy carded a third round 63 to climb 14 spots up the leaderboard into T7 place on 10-under-par.
