With local travel gaining momentum as the nation opens up gradually, the 3rd Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament scheduled for December 12 at Bukit Beruntung Golf Club aims to propel that growth especially among the golfing fraternity.
“Tourism Selangor is proud to once again host this tournament which has impressively entered its third year of establishment; despite the challenges and glitches which the Covid-19 outbreak has brought upon the golfing scene these past two years,” noted Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah bin Mohamad during a press conference at the venue recently. “Golf has emerged as one of the fastest-growing tourism trends, and Tourism Selangor has done an outstanding job with its various initiatives, including hosting the 3rd Tourism Selangor Golf Tournament 2021, following the success of the first and second editions in 2019 and 2020.”
The 18-hole tournament will feature golfers from the tourism industry, leading executives from GLCs and the private sector, celebrities and expatriates along with tournament sponsors and members of the media.
Located in Rawang and owned by Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), the Bukit Beuntung course has seen significant improvements over the past year and is in excellent condition. It is one of around 30 golf clubs in the state of Selangor, with golfers enjoying a huge variety of courses to choose from including award-winning and internationally renowned courses.
“I hope that by bringing together golfers from the industry, and the government and the private sector on one golf course, the tournament will serve as a catalyst towards creating future next-big-things, regardless of the fact that it has been a hard year to all of us due to the unprecedented pandemic. I assure, it is safe to continue golfing again in Selangor as all of the golf clubs in the state emphasize on the implementation of SOPs. Selangor’s tourism is also beginning to recover and rebuild; having entered Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan,” stressed Azrul Shah.
The state of Selangor through Tourism Selangor is committed towards exploring opportunities and leveraging on sports and golf tourism as key contributors towards domestic tourism. This is in line with Tourism Selangor’s highly-successful domestic campaign, ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’.
