Young talents shine as inaugural Selangor Junior Masters 2025 wraps up at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor

The inaugural Selangor Junior Masters 2025 concluded on a high note at Kelab Golf Seri Selangor after three days of competition that showcased some of the most promising young golfing talent from Malaysia and abroad. Held from 23 to 25 October, the tournament drew 104 participants from Selangor, other Malaysian states, and countries including Estonia, India, Indonesia, Korea, and Japan.

The event featured three age-based categories for boys and girls – Category A (17–21 years), Category B (13–16 years), and Category C (10–12 years) – with the top players advancing to the final round after the cut on Day Two.

In a display of composure and consistency, Japan’s Daichi Hayashi emerged as the Boys’ overall champion with a total of 210 (73, 67, 70), securing an invitation to compete in the Selangor Masters 2026. Malaysia’s Nik Alicia Miriam Kamil claimed the Girls’ overall champion title after a playoff, finishing with a total of 235 (80, 81, 74).

Among the Category A winners, Aiden Kei Ahmad Shaharuddin topped the boys’ division with a 215 total, while Nik Alicia continued her winning streak by securing first place in the girls’ division. Category B honours went to overall champion Hayashi for the boys and Putri Natasha Ameera, who carded 235, for the girls. In the youngest group, Category C, Raja Muhammad Syakir Raja Mohd Sukry claimed victory in the boys’ division with a total of 224, while China’s Yu Qinzhi edged out a playoff win in the girls’ division with a matching total of 246.

The prize-giving ceremony was graced by Kelab Golf Seri Selangor ambassadors and touring professionals Marcus Lim and Zulaikah Naseer, who also served as the event’s emcee. The presence of professional golfers added inspiration and encouragement for the juniors, many of whom were competing at this level for the first time.

In his closing remarks, Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr. Ahmad Fadzli bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Chairman of the Selangor Golf Development Committee (PGNS) and State Secretary of Selangor, praised the young golfers for their dedication and sportsmanship. “Golf teaches values that extend far beyond the fairways – integrity, patience, focus, and respect. These are traits that build not only great athletes, but also responsible citizens and future leaders,” he said.

He reiterated the Committee’s commitment, together with PKNS Golf Management Services, to position Selangor as a leading hub for junior golf excellence by nurturing young talent and expanding competitive opportunities. The success of the Selangor Junior Masters 2025 marks a meaningful step toward that goal, reflecting Kelab Golf Seri Selangor’s vision to be recognised as a Centre of Excellence for Golf, one that develops skills, character, and international exposure for the next generation of golfers.
