Amir Nazrin takes early lead with bogey-free 66 at PGM Penang Closed Championship

Amir Nazrin surged into the first-round lead at the PGM Penang Closed Championship after carding a flawless six-under-par 66 at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort’s par-72 Hill Course.

Amir produced a bogey-free round highlighted by an eagle on the par-five 10th hole, giving him a three-shot advantage heading into the second round of the RM180,000 event.

Trailing Amir on three-under-par 69 are Afif Fathi, Shahriffuddin Ariffin, Khor Kheng Hwai and Edven Ying, while Marcus Lim, Danny Chia, Ervin Chang and Ben Leong are a further stroke back on 70.

In the Ladies Championship, Liyana Durisic and Zulaikah Nasser shared the opening-round lead after both returned one-over-par 73s. Each player recorded three birdies and four bogeys in a closely contested battle at the top of the leaderboard.

Tang Ying Ying and Pang Hee Jie remain within striking distance, sitting four shots behind the co-leaders on five-over-par 77.

The PGM Penang Closed Championship, offering a prize purse of RM180,000 alongside RM30,000 for the Ladies Championship, is being played over the Hill Course at Bukit Jawi Golf Resort.
