Callaway’s highly-rated Epic Star irons, Epic Pro irons and Epic Star utilities are now available in Malaysia.
Hailed as the ‘dream irons’, the Epic Star and Epic Pro irons came to birth from a unique request from Callaway’s chief executive officer Chip Brewer to head of R&D Dr Alan Hocknell a few years ago. The request was this – if Hocknell could design the very best iron that he would play, with maximum performance and without any limits to the cost or engineering process, what would that be? Hocknell was excited at the endless possibilities for such an ambitious project and dedicated more than 70 of their best engineers to the project with two key messages: he wanted ground-breaking innovations and there are no boundaries.
The Epic Star iron has a conventional size clubhead and is designed to effortlessly generate high ball speeds with forgiveness. The Epic Pro iron meanwhile has a slightly smaller clubhead for better control and workability. Both models feature the next generation 360-face cup technology for longer average distance, a new Exo-cage structure for energy lensing and maximum COR, and tungsten-inner weight technology to optimise the CG location.
As with the irons, Callaway’s R&D went deeper than ever before to elevate hybrid performance with the new Epic Star utility. This is the first Callaway hybrid to employ the triaxial carbon composite crown technology, the same material used in the Epic drivers and fairway woods. Lighter than titanium by 65%, the triaxial crown helped open the door to a new level of distance and playability with a high-performance clubface.
“As the Epic drivers and fairway woods received such tremendous response and were in huge demand when launched last year, there were already requests for the irons and hybrids well before they were even launched. Since both models of the irons and the utility were made available at all the stores earlier this month, sales have been soaring and we hope to see more and more golfers trusting their game with these ‘almost forbidden irons’ and the rest of the Epic series,” said Kevin Yeap, country manager of Callaway Golf Malaysia. “Be on the lookout for our nationwide demos or come and meet our product specialists at authorised dealers to find out more and test the clubs … you must give it a try to believe it!”
